Hi my name is Anna Lea and welcome to my blog. I was born and raised in Western Pennsylvania. I enjoy hunting, foraging and fishing. I also love skiing, camping and traveling. If I’m not out doing any of those activities then chances are good I am in the kitchen cooking or searching for new recipes to try. I find pleasure in making delicious food out of natural wholesome ingredients, most of which we hunt and forage ourselves.
I was born into a family of hunters, so I began eating wild game at a very young age. I watched my dad hunt, fish, and forage, so it was very normal for us to have venison, elk, bison or other wild game for dinner. My dad was also very interested in finding indigenous edible plants and wild mushrooms, which we would cook then eat.
His influence wore off on me and I started tagging along with him in the woods. He taught me how to look for wild mushrooms and how to shoot a gun. When I was 12 we went hunting together for the first time. I will never forget my first whitetail season. Unfortunately, I didn’t have any luck that year, but I knew my dad was proud of me for going.
There was a brief period of time that I got away from hunting. However, when I started dating my husband, I was able to rediscover my passion for it. I enjoy cooking and creating dished that focus around what we harvest. I don’t believe in factory farming so the meat I eat is the meat we hunt. Come along on my journey to rediscovering the way we were intended to eat.
If you have been following along on my Instagram stories you might have heard me talking about essential oils. In January I took the plunge and signed up to be a part of Young Living Essential Oils. I never really knew much about them nor did I care to learn. I used lavender every once in awhile but thanks to an incident while pregnant I came to the conclusion they are worth all the hype.
In the third trimester of my pregnancy I thought it was a good idea to stand on a chair to do some artwork on the wall. ...
Every year we go to Lone Oak Tree Farm for our family Christmas tree. It is a tradition we have been doing since we were kids. Over the years our family has grown and so has the size of our tree. This year our tree is the biggest it's ever been, 16 feet tall! It is just shy of touching the ceiling. I look forward to sharing these holiday traditions with Logan has he grows up!
I can't believe I’m nearing the end of my second trimester. So far pregnancy has been pretty great. In my first trimester I experienced extreme fatigue, but thankfully it went away here in my second trimester. I've had no sickness or other common aliments that some pregnant women seem to experience. I try to work out 2-3 times a week. Mostly just free weights (arms & legs) and cardio on the elliptical. Tom and I live a pretty active lifestyle so that keeps me on my feet days I don't get to the gym.
Nesting is real and during this trimester we finished updating ...
Last weekend I participated in the Total Archery Challenge at Seven Spring Mountain Resort in PA. I signed up for a two day pass and purchased a one day pass for Tom. He was golfing on Saturday so I went with a few girl friends. It was a blast! I am so happy I went. Not only was it a great time but I also had the pleasure of meeting some awesome people I follow on Instagram.
Hanging out with the girlies Lyss, me and Jessie

Tom and I are so excited to announce we are expecting our first child this October. We are both ready for the next chapter in our lives and thrilled to be starting our family. I am currently 14 weeks into my pregnancy and so far I've felt pretty normal. Other than being tired more than normal pregnancy has been easy for me. No bump just yet but I have a feeling it is coming soon, no need to rush it! I plan to blog throughout my pregnancy and post pictures along the way!
